Suburban Yacht Club is the latest venture from 33 Restaurant Group, whose other concepts include Union Bear Brewing Co., Taverna Rosa and The Yard. This space is meant to make you feel like you're sailing away on a gentle breeze in a calm bay surrounded by blue skies and some chef-kissed queso. Inside the dining room strikes a blend of modern and inviting, where large televisions play beach scenes, and mellow lights change color from aquas and roses to yellows and oranges, the hues playfully dancing over an impressive number of plants that soften the hard edges. Elote topped with Flamin’ Hot Cheetos served with wheel-shaped chicharrones de harina is a prime example of the laid-back SoCal vibes here. The quesabirria is great, but be sure to ask about the daily fish special. And the beer battered tacos will transport you straight to the beach. They have a wonderful cocktail program and well-curated wine list. When the weather is nice, the big patio is great, and space heaters make it nice when it's a bit chilly.
