  • Barbara's Pavillion

325 Centre St. Oak Cliff/South Dallas

    214-941-2145

Barbara’s Pavilion, or as the Oak Cliff townies like to call it “Barb’s,” is probably your favorite bartender’s favorite bar. This beloved watering hole has been slinging drinks to patrons for more than 50 years. So, to be honest, this is probably your mom’s favorite bar too. This low-key dive bar with a retro drip is notable for its epic karaoke nights on Thursdays and Sundays and its steamy burlesque shows every third Wednesday of the month. When locals aren’t belting out their favorite go-to karaoke tunes, you can rock out to anything from '70s golden disco to New Age millennial hits to contemporary hip-hop. Don’t be surprised if you see a celebrity camped out at the bar next to you. It just means they have good taste.

  • Randy's Club Cherries

    2506 Knight St. Uptown/Oak Lawn

    214-443-0499

Like walking into an 80s night club, Randy's Cherries hasn't really changed in decades. Laser lights and fog machines still permeate the gay bar's large interior. Shiny surfaces, glossy concrete floors and pool tables attract patrons looking for a place to drink, dance and mingle. Located just on the edge of Uptown, the gay bar's drag shows on the weekends and karaoke throughout the workweek bring in gay couples and singles looking to socialize. Don't head to Cherries' if you want to be a wallflower. The back room of the club features something no other Dallas club has: a shower. Yes, you heard right, a shower in the middle of the room. Things tend to get kind of steamy at Randy's Cherries, so it makes sense to have one.

  • Round-Up Saloon

3912 Cedar Springs Rd. Uptown/Oak Lawn

    214-522-9611

Notorious for being one of the most spacious gay bars in town, Round-Up Saloon has several rooms, multiple bars, and a two-story outdoor patio; although the bar's selling point is really its tremendous hardwood dance floor, in the middle of the main room. The bar is saturated with a western theme, and has several large, framed photos of male cowboys doing cowboy-type things. Along with karaoke, trivia and drag shows, the bar hosts two-stepping and western swing dance lessons every week. The friendly bar staff say that Round-Up is a place for gay, straight and transgendered people of every orientation. Even Lady Gaga made an appearance at Round-Up Saloon in 2011, after her "Born This Way" tour, as an act of support for the gay community.

  • Sue Ellen's

    3014 Throckmorton St. Uptown/Oak Lawn

    214-559-0708

Since 1989, Sue Ellen’s has been a staple in Dallas lesbian nightlife where everyone is welcome. It used the pandemic hiatus to upgrade, update and polish everything. When it finally reopened, a crowd poured onto the sidewalk waiting to get inside. Keep an eye out for its schedule for their regular events and live music, but regulars, rest assured, karaoke on Thursdays is back.

  • The Tin Room

    2514 Hudnall Park Cities

    214-526-6365

Located a few blocks from the bustling Cedar Springs/Oak Lawn-area, The Tin Room attracts a predominately gay crowd, with its dance floor, drink specials and theme-party nights. This is a family-owned and -operated 18-and-up club, and has an underground feel, thanks to its eclectic décor (the free-standing building's painted hot pink on the outside with tin walls on the inside), tucked-away location and, well, its dancers. "Buns, abs, and bad boys"--that's the way the Tin Rooms' website describes the club's 60 or so "sensual male dancers" who take turns entertaining patrons. Expect huge crowds for the club's popular theme and costume parties, like "Studio 54 Night" and "Sex Dungeon Party."
  • Zippers

    3333 N. Fitzhugh Uptown/Oak Lawn

Bar/nightclub. Intimate, speakeasy atmosphere. Outdoor patio overlooks Fitzhugh. Exotic male dancers nightly, and Edna Jean Robinson's Monday night comedy drag show in the front room. Singer Judy Chamberlain entertains in the back room, re-named "Zippers Hideaway," on Thursday nights. Open mic on Sundays. Mixed crowd; everyone is welcome.
